Across America – Pt 1

In August 2010, my wife and I set off on our biggest adventure yet: to cycle across North America on a tandem.

Pic supplied. Courtesy of Rawlins Times, Wyoming.

We started from Vancouver in August. Our target was to get to Tampa, Florida, by December. (This was the first stage of an even bigger journey).

The Fraser Canyon in August. Baking hot and a headwind the whole way.

The reason we were doing it? To raise awareness for the disaster relief charity ShelterBox – which is why we’re towing a big green plastic box behind us.

The first of many mountain passes. One of the lowest too.

One day I’ll write the diary of our expedition. In the meantime, here are a few pictures from the first few thousand miles. Those below are from Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico.

If you want to know more about why we were riding across North America with a green box, take a look at our old Tandem 10,000 blog.
